Buffalo Breeding.

Our breeding farm, maximum animal welfare.

The management of our breeding farm is based on an innovative and natural approach to ensure optimal herd health. A key role is played by the feed, largely produced in our fields using high-quality cultivation practices.

The physical management of the farm is also fundamental: we use effective microorganisms to sanitize and rebalance the environments, creating ideal conditions for animal welfare. We have also eliminated modern wheat, identified through kinesiology tests as a potential allergen, replacing it with ancient grains. These practices have significantly improved the health and docility of the animals, thanks to a better intestinal balance. Since the immune system is closely linked to the intestine, the result is a healthier and more harmonious breeding.

The Mediterranean breed.

The best in the world

The buffaloes in our farm belong to the Italian Mediterranean breed, considered the best in the world for high-quality milk production. Famous for mozzarella, this native breed also stands out for its resilience, adaptability, and excellent meat quality.

Its cultural value and role in sustainable production make it a precious resource for Italian agriculture and gastronomy. In our farm, they live in an ideal environment that maximizes their potential, in full respect of nature.

Owning this breed is a source of pride: there are about 200 million buffaloes in the world, but only 400,000 in Italy – and it’s here that you find the best ones.

The Diet.

A balanced and natural diet.

The diet of our buffaloes is based on a wide range of forages, mostly cultivated directly by us, and mixed into a single balanced meal, administered daily to the animals. In particular, we use ancient grain cereals, such as rye, spelt, and Gentil Rosso wheat.
To ensure a varied and nutritious diet, we use hay from polyphytic meadows, rich in different varieties of herbs.

Alfalfa, fundamental for buffalo nutrition, provides a valuable protein contribution and is an essential element in their diet.
The ration is completed with corn, barley, fava beans, and peas, all expertly mixed to meet both the energy and protein needs of the animals, ensuring them a balanced and natural diet.

Properties of milk and meat.

Extraordinary quality.

When we talk about buffalo, we’re referring to an animal that produces less milk compared to a cow, but of extraordinary quality. Buffalo milk has double the nutritional value compared to cow’s milk, offers excellent yield in processing, and gives products an intense and unmistakable taste.

An important characteristic is its greater tolerability: far fewer people develop intolerances or allergies compared to cow’s milk, perhaps due to the ancient origin of the species. We have received numerous feedbacks from customers who couldn’t tolerate dairy products but can perfectly digest buffalo milk products.

Buffalo meat is also excellent: lean, protein-rich, and with very little cholesterol, even less than chicken. It’s highly digestible and has a balanced nutritional profile, with an excellent ratio of omega-3 to omega-6, essential for our well-being. For all these reasons, buffalo-derived products represent a conscious choice of the highest nutritional value.

Applied microbiology.

For animal health.

In recent years, we have worked intensively on soil microbiology, with a stop to chemical fertilizers.

This approach has increased organic matter and promoted the activity of fungi and bacteria, fundamental for nourishing plants naturally. We apply the same principle in breeding, focusing on the intestinal health of the buffaloes.

We use beneficial bacteria such as EM1 to colonize environments and create a positive microbial flora, which hinders the proliferation of pathogens. The result is a clear improvement in the health and well-being of the animals.

Technology & tradition.

From grandparents' wisdom to robots.

In our farm, we combine farming tradition with the most modern technologies. We use crop rotations and sustainable practices, integrated with innovative solutions to increase efficiency and animal welfare. We have introduced a feeding robot that distributes food up to 12 times a day, ensuring a fresh and balanced diet. Milking is also automated to optimize time and improve buffalo health.

In the fields, agricultural machinery with satellite technology allows us to monitor every operation with precision. Furthermore, we invest in renewable energy with a biogas plant and a photovoltaic system, for increasingly sustainable agriculture.
