A Significant Investment

In 2022, we made a significant investment in our company by installing a large-scale photovoltaic system with a total capacity of two and a half megawatts, entirely positioned on the roofs of our barns. We chose to install solar panels exclusively on the roofs, a solution that allows us to be completely self-sufficient from an energy perspective.

Furthermore, excess production generates a significant amount of energy that is fed into the grid. We decided to invest in this sector because we believe that utilizing the available surfaces of our structures to produce electricity is a smart and sustainable choice, in line with our vision of innovative and environmentally respectful agriculture.

Biogas.

Sustainable Electricity.

We installed our biogas plant in 2010, among the first in the region, and since then we have been producing energy sustainably with great results. The system generates a constant 400 kWh, 24 hours a day, using 90% manure and slurry from our livestock.

We produce both electricity and thermal energy: the latter is used to heat homes, offices, dairy, and for washing hot water. The electricity covers part of our needs and is partially fed into the grid.

By combining biogas with the photovoltaic system, we produce enough energy for approximately 1,500 families, an achievement we are very proud of. All this thanks to animal waste and solar energy.

Additionally, the manure transformed in the process becomes digestate, a high-quality natural fertilizer that we use in our fields, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and improving the sustainability of our crops.

Decarbonization.

To Improve Ecosystem Quality.

In 2019, we initiated an important transformation process in both agriculture and livestock farming, adopting good cultivation and animal management practices that have made us a highly sustainable company, including from an environmental perspective.

Thanks to this commitment, in 2024 we obtained certification as a carbon credit producing company. This means that we not only minimize environmental impact but actively contribute to improving ecosystem quality. This result was achieved through sustainable agricultural practices, renewable energy production, and responsible livestock management.

Being recognized for our positive contribution to the environment is a source of great satisfaction for us.

Biodiversity.

A Very Important Journey for the Moris World.

The concept of biodiversity is very important, and for the past six years we have undertaken a significant journey, reintroducing species and varieties that we had somewhat forgotten.

We have started again to cultivate a series of cereals and herbs that were no longer being grown in favor of monoculture.
Nature does not want monoculture, and so we have now created, especially for autumn-winter crops, mixes of cereals and herbs that succeed in respecting this concept of biodiversity, which manage to give the soil greater strength and vigor without moving towards a monoculture that only takes from the soil and gives nothing back.

This has now become the primary basic rule for us at Moris.
